The Whitefish Bulldog boys basketball team would play host to Libby, Thursday night, as they looked for a bounce back performance.

The Dawgs look to keep pace in a packed, wild Northwest "A" Conference.

This was just the second to last home game of the season for the Dawgs.

Pre-game, Carson Gulick said it would take a strong defensive effort to get the win.

Whitefish opened the first quarter strong and held a 17-9 advantage at the end of the frame.

The Dawgs would continue to build on that start as they went up by 10 at the half, 28-18.

At one point in the 3rd, the Dawgs led by 13 but Libby would battle back and cut into the lead. Whitefish held a 40-34 advantage after three quarters.

In the fourth, the Dawgs showed patience and discipline while knocking down clutch free throws to pull away. The Dawgs scored 19 points in the final quarter.

Gulick was 5-6 at the charity stripe in the 4th, finished 8-9 at the free throw line in the game as the Dawgs pulled away for the 59-43 victory. As a team, the Dawgs finished 12-14 from the free throw line.

Gulick, named the OrthoRehab Player of the Game, finished with 17 points. Both the Mason's (Kelch and Genovese) combined to score 26. Kelch had 15 and Genovese added 11.

Libby was led by Tyler Anderson with 21 points while Cy Williams added 14.

With the win, Whitefish improves to 9-7 overall, 5-5 in league play.

Over in the girls game, the Lady Dawgs would come out firing on all cylinders as they scored a season high 61 points.

The Lady Dawgs picked up the big road win by a final of 61-30.

With the win the Lady Dawgs are 6-10 overall, 3-7 in league play.

Up Next: Both teams will hit the road, Saturday, for an afternoon matinee at Bigfork.

Boys get the action underway first with a 3:30pm start, girls to follow.

Catch all the action live on KSAM.

This is a BIG game for the boys. Bigfork defeated Ronan, Thursday night. The Vikings sit in 4th place in the conference with a 6-5 league record. The Dawgs sit right behind them, in 5th.

Ronan currently has 4 conference losses and are in 3rd.

Top 3 seeds earn a spot in the Divisional Tournament. The next four play a play-in for the No. 4 seed.
