Whitefish Basketball Teams Sweep Stevi to Open Season

The Whitefish Basketball teams were in Frenchtown, over the weekend, as they opened season play at the Western "A" Tip-Off Tournament.

Both teams would play two games in two days.

On Saturday, the Whitefish boys basketball team would open the day with a 73-35 route of the Stevensville Yellowjackets.

The Dawgs showed off a new offensive look, one that should result in a lot of 3-pointers made this season.

After going down 2-0 early, Whitefish would score the next 16 points and never looked back. The Dawgs led after one quarter of play, 16-2.

Whitefish kept their foot to the pedal in the second and would head into the halftime break up 31-9.

Whitefish extended the lead to 52-19 after three.

Every single player that dressed for the Dawgs would play in this one and for the second day in a row the Dawgs put up 70 plus points.

Whitefish knocked down nine made 3-pointers in the contest. Carson Gulick led the way with 21 points. Ryan Conklin had 12 (four made 3's). Will Sisson dropped in 11 off the bench and CJ Thew added 10.

In the second game of the day, the Whitefish girls basketball team would take to the floor and came away with a big 65-11 victory.

The Lady Dawgs are a young group this year. Just four upperclassmen return from last year.

The Lady Dawgs would pounce early, leading 16-4 after one quarter of play.

Whitefish showed that they may be young but there's a lot of promise as they extended the lead to 32-8 at the half.

After falling in day 1, after being up big at the intermission, the Lady Dawgs put up 19 points in the 3rd and cruised to the finish line.

10 different players would score in this one. The Whitefish girls were led by freshman Allie Shors with 13 points.
