Malakai Curley, Polson, Down Whitefish to Open League Play

The Whitefish Boys basketball team returned to action, Tuesday night, playing host to Polson.

This was the first conference game of the season for both teams.

The Pirates under the direction of first year head coach, Randy Kelley, would come away with the 66-55 victory.

The teams played an even first quarter with Polson's Cason Graham hitting a buzzer beater, at the end of the frame, to tie things up at 14 all after one quarter of play.

Polson got the upper hand in the 2nd quarter, dropping 22 in the frame to take a 36-29 lead into the halftime break.

The Pirates would push their lead to double digits in the third before Whitefish went on a run late and cut the lead to 5, 55-49 after three.

The Dawgs at that point ran out of gas and were held to just six 4th quarter points.

Malakai Curley led the way for the Pirates dropping in a game high 29 points, Cason Graham had 15 and Kyson Michel added 12 for Polson.

Whitefish was led by Cooper Dudley with 19 while Carson Gulick had 11.

Following all the action the Dawgs fall to 3-3 overall, 0-1 in conference play.

Polson improves to 4-3 overall, 1-0 in league play.

In some Girls Hoops action: The Whitefish Lady Dawgs were in Polson Tuesday night for their first conference game of the season. The Polson Lady Pirates would come away with the 44-31 win.

The Polson girls are now 3-4 overall, 1-0 in conference play with the Lady Dawgs 2-4 overall, 0-1 in league play.

Up Next: Both Whitefish Basketball team will be back in action Thursday with the boys traveling to Browning while the girls playing host.
