Dawgs Buck the Broncs: Whitefish Football Wins Season Opener

The Whitefish High School Football team opened up their season, on the road, at Hamilton.

Friday night was a big road win, for the Dawgs, who look to make some noise in the Class "A" Ranks this year.

Carson Gulick threw for 262 yards and three touchdowns while the defense recovered three fumbles, had one interception and forced three turnovers on downs to power the Bulldogs to a 27-7 win, Friday night.

Whitefish opened up the scoring in the 1st with a 12 yard touchdown pass from Gulick to CJ Thew to make the game 7-0.

The Dawgs would score twice in the 2nd quarter as Gulick took it in himself, from 6 yards out to give the Dawgs a 13-0 lead.

Whitefish tacked on 7 more just before halftime as Scotty Dalen reeled in a 6-yard grab from Gulick. 

The Dawgs led 20-0 at halftime.

The 2nd half was a stingy defensive battle with Whitefish working the clock. After being picked off earlier in the game Gulick would find Thew on a 94 yard touchdown to give the Dawgs a 27-0 advantage midway through the 4th.

Hamilton scored late in the game on a 30 yard TD pass from Cooper Weston to Andrik Valenzuela.

Unofficially, the Dawgs had 359 total yards of offense (261 passing, 98 rushing).

Hamilton would garner 311 total yards of offense (206 passing, 105 rushing).

Hamilton would commit 9 penalties for 65 yards.
