Whitefish Girls Basketball Sinks Polson for Big Conference Win

    Both Whitefish Basketball teams were back in action, Thursday night, as the girls hosted Polson while the boys were on the road.

    Both teams picked up big quality conference wins, sinking the Pirates.

    In the girls game, the Lady Dogs would get off to a a good start leading 14-13 after one quarter of play.

    This was a back-and-forth affair with Polson grabbing the lead, late in the first half and led 24-22 at the halftime break.

    Neither team would lead by more than four points through the first three quarters as the Lady Pirates held a 3-point advantage, 32-29 after three quarters of play.

    The Lady Dogs put together their best quarter of the night in the final frame as they dropped 17 in the quarter. Whitefish hit clutch free throws and played stellar defense to come away with the 46-43 win. One of the best wins of the season for the Lady Dogs.

    The Whitefish girls were led by Allie Shors with 14 points, Yoli Krastev (in her 2nd game back) added 11.

    Polson was led by their stellar Sophomore, Rylee Taylor-Jefferson with 21.

    Whitefish was 12-19 from the free throw line.

    With the win the Lady Dogs improve to 4-7 overall, 2-4 in Northwest "A" Conference play.

    Polson falls to 5-8 overall, 3-4 in league play.

    Over in the boys game, the Whitefish Bulldogs were on the road for a match-up with the Pirates.

    Whitefish grabbed an early 2-point advantage after the 1st quarter, leading 17-15.

    A big 2nd quarter helped propel the Dogs in this one, outscoring Polson 24-12 in the frame and taking a 41-27 halftime lead.

    The Dogs would maintain a 10-point advantage through the 2nd half and came away with the 58-48 road victory.

    Cooper Dudley led the way for the Dogs, scoring 20 points while making 5 3-pointers.

    With the win the Whitefish boys improve to 5-6 overall, 2-4 in conference play.

    Polson falls to 7-6 overall, 4-3 in conference play.

    Up Next: Both Whitefish Basketball teams return home for a double header against rivals, Columbia Falls.
