The Whitefish Basketball games against Ronan, scheduled for Thursday January 12th, have been postponed due to the weather.
Both games which were set to be played Friday evening will now be moved to a date TBD.
This follows the massive snow storm that rocked the majority of the Flathead Valley, Thursday.
In addition, Whitefish wrestling at Polson has also been postponed.
Below is an email received from Dave Means, Whitefish School District Superintendent.
"Hello Whitefish Staff and Families,
This is Dave Means, and I am contacting you to let you know that all Whitefish School District schools will be closed tomorrow, Friday, January 12th due to unsafe road and weather conditions. The updated weather forecast is calling for decreasing temperatures to -22 degrees with a windchill from -40 to -50. Consequently, we are making the decision now to close school on Friday, January 12. This includes all activities, athletics, and associated practices for both Thursday, January 11th and Friday, January 12th.
Today's dismissal will be at the regular scheduled time with all bus routes running accordingly.
Keep in mind that we have a scheduled day off on Monday, January 15th, in observance of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Day.
As always, you can check our school district website at wsd44.org for any new information and updates. Thank you for your patience and understanding."
Whitefish is just one of many schools that have had games called off and/or school canceled due to the weather.
Many area schools such as Glacier and Flathead are dealing with cancelations and postponements.
As of now their has been no word on the basketball games between Whitefish and Columbia Falls, scheduled for Saturday. Stay tuned for more.
