Dawgs Clinch Playoff Berth, Sink Pirates, on Senior Night

    The Whitefish Bulldogs Played host to Polson, Friday Night, for Senior Night.

    Friday night was also the final home game of the regular season for the Whitefish Football team.

    The Dawgs made it count.

    Whitefish defeated the Pirates 38-10. In doing so the Dawgs earned a little redemption (Polson had won the last three match-ups), sent the seniors off the right way and clinched a spot in the 2024 Class "A" State Playoffs.

    Polson received the opening kick, to start the game and drove down the field using almost 7 minutes of clock, leading 7-0 early on.

    Whitefish would answer thanks to a Riley Zetooney 58 yard Touchdown run to tie things up at 7-7.

    The turning point in this game came right before the half. After Polson kicked a 31 yard Field Goal, to go up 10-7 it was all Whitefish. 

    The Dawgs scored twice in a matter of :40 seconds to end the half

    Zetooney would find the endzone, for the 2nd time, scoring from 10 yards out making it 14-10.

    The Dawgs then forced a quick 3-and-out and CJ "Big Play" Thew set up the Dawgs at the Polson 30 yard line thanks to a fantastic punt return.

    Carson Gulick would then toss his first touchdown of the game, a 30 yard pass to Thew and the Dawgs went up 21-10 at the halftime break.

    In the third quarter Gulick tossed a pair of TD passes: One more to Thew and another to Calvin Eisenbarth. Tait Orme added a 34 yard Field Goal in the 4th to seal things.

    After Polson went up 10-7, the Dawgs reeled off 31 unanswered points.

    Following all the action the Dawgs are now 5-3 on the season, 5-2 in Western "A" Division Play. With the win, the Dawgs are in line to host a first round playoff game.

    Up Next: The Dawgs will close out eh regular season, Friday Night, at Browning. Kick-off scheduled for 7pm.
