Columbia Falls Sweeps Whitefish in Latest Rivalry Game, at Home

    The Whitefish Basketball teams took to the road, Tuesday, to face their rivals, Columbia Falls, for the first time on the hardwood this season.

    Both the Columbia Falls teams would come away with a sweep Tuesday night.

    Those games were origianlly scheduled to be played Saturday January 13th but had to be moved due to the weather.

    The Lady Dawgs would take to the floor against the Lady Wilcats in the first of the double header.

    It was a close game after one quarter with Whitefish trailing just 10-8 after the 1st.

    The Lady Wildcats would take over the game from there, opening up the 2nd quarter on a 13-0 run and led 25-12 at the half.

    C-Falls was dominant in the 2nd half holding Whitefish to just two points as they cruised to the 55-14 win.

    Taryn Borgen led the way for the Lady Wildcats with 14 points. Columbia Falls had nine different girls score in the contest. 

    Whitefish was led by the OrthoRehab Physical Therapy Player of the Game, Ainsley Scott, who dropped in 8 points.

    With the win, C-Falls improves to 5-8 overall, 4-3 in conference play.

    Whitefish falls to 4-8 overall, 1-5 in league play.

    As for the nightcap, when the boys took to the hardwood it was all business for Mason Kelch. Kelch was on fire from the start scoring 16 points in the first half. The Dawgs would lead 12-11 after one quarter of play and pushed their lead to 28-21 at the half.

    Colubia Falls would respond in a big way, however, outscoring the Dawgs 14-5 in the 3rd quarter.

    Whitefish had no answer offensively in the 2nd half as they were held to just 10 points in the final two quarters as the Wildcats pulled away for the big 50-38 win.

    Cody Schweikert, the University of Montana Football committ, led the way for C-Falls dropping in 23 points (15 in the 2nd half).

    Whitefish was led by Kelch, the OrthoRehab Physical Therapy Player of the Game, who had a team high 20 points for the Dawgs.

    With the win C-Falls keeps pace with Ronan at the top of the Northwest "A", improving to 8-5 on the season, 6-1 in conference play.

    Whitefish falls to 7-5 overall, 3-3 in league play.

    Up Next: Both Whitefish teams will take on Ronan Thursday night (tonight) with the girls on the road and the boys at home.

    Girls hit the hardwood vs. the Maidens for a 6pm tip-off.

    Boys game tips-off at 7:15pm and will be heard live on 1240 Sam.
